Chaplain Arrested by Military Police

The Army Times called it “in a perfect encapsulation of 21st century life on Kuwait’s Camp Buehring, a Pennsylvania Army National Guard chaplain was handcuffed and hauled off by military police.”

The chaplain, Captain Justin Thomas, was busted for wearing headphones while walking. It is in fact a violation of Camp policy. A sergeant major was trying to get Thomas’s attention to tell him about the policy governing walking with headphones on, was foiled by the chaplain’s headphones, and called the MPs to arrest Thomas. The MPs took him to the MP station on the camp, and called his buddies to come pick him up.

A video of the incident appeared on YouTube. Reporters from both the Military Times and U.S. Army W.T.F! moments, a Twitter account, a website and a Facebook page that offers “your daily dose of W.T.F!” moments in the Army.

Thomas, who is also a member of the All-Guard marathon team, more or less shrugged it off, saying the sergeant major was just doing his job. When a soldier from his command came to pick him up, the soldier brought along a nail file hidden in a Bible in case Thomas needed more labor-intensive ways to escape.
