The Approaching Climax of “Something Like Treason”

Waiting for Something Like Treason: Disloyal American Soldiers and the Plot to be World War II Home is something like waiting for any climax. Some nail-biting, some managing of expectations, some resolve to just be cool, then repeat.

My publisher, Sunbury Press, has been wonderful. Very professional, comprehensive, talented and, as opposed to some other publishers I know, very helpful.

Truth is, I liked it since the day I saw the company’s motto: “Remember the Enlightment.”

Also, it’s an optimistic group. Back in March, Lawrence Knorr (who runs the whole thing and is Treason’s editor) estimated the book would be published in June. With two rounds of editing, cover design, image permissions, layout and more in front of us, I – a scarred veteran of production delays – couldn’t imagine we could get it done by then.

And Sunbury has four imprints and other books to get out. It’s moving quickly with the manuscript, but we’ve had to move the publication date. We’re getting near the end but Marianne Babcock (the woman who guides the process as well as the man who runs the whole thing) remains circumspect. In short: I don’t yet know exactly when the thing will see the light of day.
